How We Help

Legacy WA delivers person-centred support that strengthens mental health, financial stability, and community connection for veteran families.

Legacy WA’s service delivery model creates measurable, transformative outcomes for veteran families, focusing on improving mental health, financial stability, and community connections. By providing practical, person-centred support, our programs help reduce reliance on welfare systems while fostering resilience and independence.

Our Services

  • Intake, Assessment, and Case Management Program

Our case managers work closely with each family to assess their unique needs and provide personalised support. Through in-house case management services, we offer direct guidance and ongoing assistance, ensuring families feel supported every step of the way. We also leverage our strong partnerships and collaborative networks to provide referrals to specialised services so families receive timely and essential care.

  • Financial Support and Wellbeing

Legacy WA supports financial wellness through expert guidance and support, helping veterans’ families achieve long-term independence. We assist through referrals, emergency relief, homelessness solutions, and education support grants.

  • Pensions Advocacy

Legacy WA provides expert guidance and advocacy to help clients navigate the often complex process of accessing entitlements through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). Understanding and securing these entitlements can be challenging, which is why our dedicated Pensions Officers work closely with families of veterans to provide clarity, support, and tailored advice.

  • Respite and Camp Programs

Since 1957, Legacy WA’s Busselton Camp has provided respite for veteran families. Tailored camp programs for women, youth, families, and individuals living with disabilities encourage independence, resilience, and the formation of meaningful peer connections.

  • Community Engagement and Social Connections

For nearly 100 years, Legacy WA has supported veteran families through practical aid and social programs. We promote wellbeing by fostering friendships, organising events, and hosting group activities to help younger families build support networks. Our Laurel Program specifically assists war widows and veteran partners, offering regular meetings and social outings to combat isolation and loneliness.

  • Legatee Peer Support

At the core of Legacy WA’s mission are our dedicated volunteer Legatees, who provide vital one-on-one companionship to families of veterans. With compassion and a strong sense of duty, they provide practical assistance, emotional support, and community advocacy, ensuring families have the resources and guidance they need to navigate life’s challenges. By working closely with families and Legacy’s professional team, Legatees uphold the promise to honour service by caring for those left behind. Their contributions create lasting impact, empowering families to rebuild, thrive, and feel part of a supportive community.
